Reason - If you will look again at that picture you will see - 1. the seal is IN PLACE on that bottle. 2. remember! I hated the taste of it when the seal was broken. Reason-

in terms of crime, I was speaking in relative terms. Yes, crime went down over the past decade, but it is still much higher than 40 years ago. ANd like I said, it's the juveys that really blow me away. I will peek every now and then at juvenile records from the 80s (don't have access to anything earlier)and even then, you had mailbox vandalism, underage drinking, truancy, etc. Well, you still have all those things, but now you got child molestation (by another child no less), attempted rape, meth, and whole host of other assorted goodies. It's bad, and it doesn't seem to want to get better.

Regarding the sports concerns......yes, the lust for money has destroyed much of sport. But I think it might have a lot to do with the deterioration of the quality of human beings we have in the business. I'm sure Papa Bear Halas wanted the Bears to be as profitable as possible, but he also wanted them to win. The O'Malley's bought the land at Chavez Ravine and built Dodger Stadium with their own money. Think of all the wonderful stories people tell about Crosley Field; they won't be doing the same about GABP. "Yeah, I remember when I was a kid and my dad took me to my first Reds game at...I think it was called Great American Ballpark then. We only paid $15 to park, then we got a bobblehead brough to you by Skyline Chilli. Our seats were pretty reasonable (only $40 each, but $2.50 convenience charge)." Whatever.

Today we have the Daniel Snyders and Mike Browns of the world. No pride whatsoever. But I don't attribute it to Republican or Democrat, I just think it's an overall degradation of character.

Well, you still have all those things, but now you got child molestation (by another child no less), attempted rape, meth, and whole host of other assorted goodies. It's bad, and it doesn't seem to want to get better.

Maybe the crimes of the past were so embarrassing to the victim that they went unreported. In today's paper, there's a story of a woman who is suing the Catholic Church for getting pregnant by a priest while she was a student at Regina High in 1965. The priest went off unpunished to South Dakota.

According to the victim, a nun blamed her and told her to "suffer in silence." The victim reportedly has letters from the nun with these directions.

As I have previously mentioned, a friend of mine became sexually active in the 5th grade when older neighborhood boys used him as their "butt boy." This friend is 47 years old and grew up in Adams county.

I'm not convinced this garbage just now started. The difference between today and yesterday, I think, is the level of openness about discussing these issues.

I have processed juvenile offenders every day for the past 4 years and even in that time, it has gotten worse. I average 3 rape cases a week, 7 felonious assaults, and possibly 20 -30 drug charges ranging from possession of marijuana (a minor misdemeanor) to Trafficking charges (anywhere from a fifth degree felony to a first degree felony based on the amount and whether or not it is near a school). One of my co-workers has been doing this for 18 years and she has seen it get worse as time has gone on.

Did things go unreported 30, 40, 50 years ago? Yes. But back then too, if you got into a fight with someone, for the most part it was a one on one fistfight. Nowadays, you have gangs of kids jumping one person, kids using weapons of all sorts, etc, etc.

You really have no idea.

You really have no idea.<hr /></blockquote>Actually, I would have an idea, being that my neighbor three door up was pistol whipped and robbed 30 feet from her front door. And a friend of mine was robbed at gunpoint on a downtown street, his car stolen, his wallet taken, the jacket off his back heisted. Then there's another guy I know who was beaten up outside a downtown bar. About three blocks down from trav and gae has long been known as a drug corner - do a web search on that street corner, and there were about 6 shootings in a few year's time.

I would argue that Cincinnati - always being against the overall trend - has generally been going the wrong way with regards to crime while most big cities were getting safer.

I'm sure you remember a time when city leaders bragged that we were one of the safest large cities in the country. We are now one of the bottom 25.

Another positive trend is teen pregnancies. They've been going down, consistently. And we all know the strong correlation between single parenting and the criminality of their children.
